Sunlight

Sunlight is something that I get in abundance in the part of India where I live. I never noticed how strongly my mental and physical energy is linked with it until I started working till late in night.

At the time of writing, it is peak winter season in the northern part of India. It is common to not have sunshine for days in a row. I observed, on such days, my energy levels are relatively low and mood feels gloomy.

Back in time, when I was hunting for the house where I currently live, I had selected it because of the amount of sunlight it receives, so much so that I didn’t need to turn on lights until it’s dark outside.

Recently, I and my partner were thinking of living outside of India, I never thought the amount of sun light a country receives would be a deal breaking factor in it.

I came across a thread on Twitter, where people discussing the exact same topic, it made me realize that I’m not alone who find the gray weather mentally depressing and boring, especially if it remains for extended periods of time like weeks or months in row.
